There are three “diamond” events on the West Coast 2016 calendar being announced today. These three events will make up a “Triple Crown” to determine the 2016 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear National Champions. The first one takes place on the July 4th race weekend at Portland International Raceway. “This event is considered the Oregon region’s premier event, and is part of the SCCA US MAJORS Program,” added Loge. “Our series has two exclusive races, but drivers can also opt to participate in the SCCA sessions making the event a quadruple header!” In September, the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. The final diamond event is at the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships (PCRRC) in October at Auto Club Speedway.
“We are excited about the Triple Crown format,” stated World Speed Communications Director Mark Milazzo. “We believe that this mix of technical high profile events makes the Formula Car National Championships even more significant.” 2016 marks the 11th Anniversary of the Formula Car Challenge series, and the second consecutive season that the FCC National Champions will be determined on their performances from multiple weekends.

Rounds 3 and 4:
September 16th -18th –
Sonoma GoPro Grand Prix with IndyCar
The Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. The 12th annual Verizon IndyCar Series event at Sonoma Raceway will serve as the season finale for the IndyCar 2016 schedule, marking the second time the wine country road course has concluded a major open-wheel series season. This will mark the sixth time the FCC will be paired with the Verizon IndyCar® Series in the Sonoma Valley. Past events have had 33-35 cars on the grid, making this one of the largest open-wheel races in the country.

FCC Round3
